Thursday, August 16th:
Implementing the Common Core K-8 Math Standards
This one-day workshop will include the following training to teachers and administrators supporting the implementation of the Common Core (CC) K-8 Math Standards in their school.
- Introduce the critical areas of the CC standards at each grade level K-8
- Learn how the critical areas organize and bring focus to the K-8 standards
- Learn the domains, clusters, and standards organization of the new standards
- Understand how the eight practice standards intersect with the content standards
- Learn how to track student progress on the math standards to mastery
Monday, August 20th
Standards-Based Grading in the Math Classroom ~ K-8
Join your colleagues learning how to implement a standards-based math program in your classroom/at your school. This training will cover the following implementation strategies:
- Implementing Common Core Assessments for the K-8th classrooms
- Standard-Based Grading and Reporting
- Using Technology to TRACK student progress on the Standards.
- Using Technology to REPORT student progress on the Standards
- Using Data to Drive Instructional Strategies
- Parent Resources
Thursday, August 23:
Managing Small Groups in Math ~ K-8
Join your colleagues learning new ways to manage small groups in the math classroom. You will walk away with many instructional strategies as well as grade level-specific activities to use the next day!
- How to use Standards-Based Data to "sort" students
- Standards-Based Activities to use with Small Groups
- Integrating Technology into Small Group activities
- Pushing Problem-Solving in Small Groups
- Using Math Games and Activities in Small Groups
