NEW FEATURES ON SeeCelebrateandLive.org The CSD website continues to be updated to better serve your school needs. Please take a minute to locate some of the new features that you may want to highlight in your school newsletters or parish bulletins! Please consider adding SeeCelebrateandLive.org as a link to your school website.
1) YEAR FOR PRIESTS: a quick link to secure resources on both a school and parish level to promote the gift of our priests within the Archdiocese of Seattle.
2) CATHOLICS COME HOME: a quick link to national resources for the Archdiocesan parish thrust that will launch during the Season of Lent. This link includes videos, resources,
3) GOOGLE LANGUAGE TRANSLATORS: for families with home heritage languages of Spanish, Korean, Filipino, French, and Vietnamese. Just click and the entire website translates into one of the listed languages. The tool is limited in its translation and interpretation but it is a starting point to connect with many of our communities.
4) SEARCH FUNCTION HAS BEEN ACTIVATED: If you are looking for a particular item, try the search feature to see if it can save time. J
5) WEEKLY PRINCIPAL/PASTOR MAILING IS NOW IN BLOG FORM: The weekly mailing email reminder every Monday continues to go out to pastors and principals and their delegates. It is more of an archival list of items posted on the blog for the current week. The CSD is actually updating information to the weekly mailing blog in an on-going and seamless way.
6) THE 12 GARDENS OF STEWARDSHIP: As we visit schools we see great examples of the Stewardship project alive in our schools. We have very few digital pictures to document these monthly bulletin board themes so if you have any images, please consider lifting up your teachers and their hard work by posting pictures of their beautiful efforts. Thank you!
CURRICULUM EXTENSIONS THROUGH STAMPS: Masterpieces in Miniature The National Postal Museum has launched a visually-stunning interdisciplinary curriculum guide for Catholic school teachers integrating the fields of religion, history, and art. Teachers can combine visual literacy strategies and object exploration with religious education to enrich their students’ learning experiences, especially for those with delayed reading skills. Stamps inspire discussions and explorations through historical and religious themes.
- The curriculum guide provides teachers with various strategies to use Vatican City stamps in lesson plans. Visit http://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/arago...ampscurriculum to start exploring.
- The Vatican City issued 1,496 stamps from 1929 to 2008. Each one of these stamps contains imagery from art, history, and religion to communicate the rich tradition of the Vatican City and the Catholic Church. For an introduction to the Vatican City Stamps, visit http://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/VaticanStamps/. Arago, the museum’s digitized collection, enables on-line access to the Postal Museum objects.
- For more information about this project, please contact Tabitha Jacques at JacquesT@si.edu, or Allison Wickens at WickensA@si.edu. Education Aides, National Postal Museum
