GRASSROOTS EFFORT DRAWING THOUSANDS OF INACTIVE CATHOLICS BACK TO CHURCH

(January 27, 2010) Atlanta, GA—Catholics across the U.S., including Western Washington, are inviting their neighbors, relatives and co-workers back to their church family for the new year, using creative television commercials and an interactive Web site developed by Catholics Come Home.org.
Catholics Come Home is a lay, not-for-profit Catholic organization which creates and broadcasts media messages extending an invitation to inactive Catholics and others to join the Catholic faith family. “Our invitation is simple,” said President and Founder Tom Peterson, “God loves you. We miss you. Welcome home!”
The grassroots Catholics Come Home.org movement is able to air television commercials in the Archdiocese of Seattle thanks to the support of thousands of practicing Catholic families in Western Washington who want to share the blessings and benefits of their Catholic faith with friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers.

On Ash Wednesday, February 17th, Catholics Come Home.org will launch its multimedia campaigns in Western Washington broadcast areas. In Phoenix and Corpus Christi, where the commercials first aired, it is estimated that 100,000 inactive Catholics and converts came home to the Catholic faith. Catholics Come Home.org multimedia campaigns are currently airing in major cities across the country reaching 17.5 million viewers in the Archdioceses of Chicago and Omaha, and the dioceses of Sacramento; Colorado Springs; Lincoln, Neb.; Rockford and Joliet Ill.; and Providence, R.I. The campaign also will air in Green Bay, Wis., during Lent 2010.

Thousands of Catholics Come Home TV ads will air in Seattle and surrounding areas for six weeks during Lent, between Ash Wednesday and Easter (April 4), on all the major network television affiliates (in English and Spanish), cable TV and on radio in selected areas. Local campaigns will precede a national campaign to be launched in 2011.

The commercials direct viewers to CatholicsComeHome.org or to CatolicosRegresen.org (Spanish Web site) to learn more about the Catholic faith and how easy and rewarding it is to return to their Catholic Church family. Catholics Come Home.org commercials run on all major networks in English and Spanish and also are closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

Peterson, will be traveling to Seattle for the multimedia advertising launch and will be available for media interviews on Tuesday February 16th on an appointment basis.
