The past year and a half the policies and procedures have been reviewed and a draft is now available for review by principals. This draft is presented in an online “Forum” with a "Reply to Thread" available for your comments to the Assistant Superintendent for Policy and Personnel.
The changes to current policy are outlined as BLUE and Underlined text. Two changes you will find through the document are the references to the principal have been changed to school administrator to reflect that some schools are administered by a President/Principal model, and the title Pastor has been changed to Canonically Appointed Leader to reflect other governance models.
There are now 5 sections of policies: Organization, Curriculum, Personnel, Student Guidelines and Management. The Personnel section has been integrated with many of the Archdiocesan parish policies to bring more consistency and clarity for employees. Most of the current procedures are integrated into the policies or will be presented as templates for best practices.
We are gathering feedback for the next few months, written reviews are due by the end of February. There will be opportunities to discuss and give feedback through regional meetings and the plan is to make a presentation to the Archbishop for promulgation in the 2014-15 school year.
