| Dear Catechetical Colleagues, |
| As we move into the second week of Advent, our "Essential Concept" is the Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office. Advent is a wonderful time for praying the Liturgy of the Hours, which is the common and public prayer of the Church. It is when our Church across the globe comes together to pray for the world. And as we are all well aware, the world is in need of our prayers! We have included several digital and print resources for you in this week's newsletter. Beyond the Liturgy of the Hours, we have added new materials for Advent and the Year of Mercy, which begins tomorrow, December 8th - the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Please check out the new Year of Mercy link on the Archdiocesan homepage for more resources and events for the Jubilee Year that will continue to grow over the next several months! Please also note, we have some new events to add to your calendar for 2016. These include a Faith Formation Presentation and Luncheon on March 15th, the PAFF Workshop and Retreat on April 28-29th, and our Annual PAFF Conference on June 1st. More information about these events will be shared in upcoming newsletters, but please mark your calendars now! The 2016 Sourcebook for Sundays, Seasons and Weekdays from Liturgy Training Publications. This resource provides guidance regarding the liturgical elements so that communities can prepare liturgies rooted in the vision of the Second Vatican Council. The Sourcebook is organized to help you follow the liturgical calendar. You remain in our prayers and please let us know, how we might be of further service to all of you!
