For more than forty years the Physics Education Group at the University of Washington has provided a NSF-funded summer professional development opportunity for K-12 math and science teachers, engaging them in the development of their understanding of content relevant to the grades they teach and providing a model for inquiry instruction in their classrooms.
The Institute is a 5-week program for which teachers receive 10 upper-level credits in physics. It is a tuition free program and teachers are also awarded a stipend upon completion.
Prior to joining the Physics Education Group I was a teacher in the Seattle Archdiocese for 25 years and my daughters, and now their children, attended Catholic schools from K-12. I recognize and value the incredible education being provided by Catholic school teachers and want to be sure that they are aware of the professional development opportunity we offer. I have personally reached out to include many of them in our professional development opportunity and have been thrilled with the number who have responded to our invitation and have participated in the past. My hope is that you will be able to help spread the word of our Institute to all of the schools by distributing the attached flier. If you have any questions about our program, please don't hesitate to contact me.
