Action Alert - Contact U.S. Senators on New START Treaty

Later this week, a key Senate committee is expected to vote on the ratification of the New START Treaty. The USCCB supports strong, bipartisan action to ratify the New START Treaty that concerns the nuclear weapons arsenals of the U.S. and Russia.

The New START Treaty:

• reduces deployed strategic warheads to 1550, 30 percent below the existing ceiling;
• limits both nations to no more than 700 delivery vehicles; and
• includes new verification requirements.

Please contact Senators Murray and Cantwell this week and urge them to support the New START Treaty – it will make our nation and world safer by reducing nuclear weapons in a verifiable way.
