Happy Fall! Knee deep in the leaves, wind, and rain, I hope your school year is going well! Many of you are thinking about or have participated in Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences, and my prayer for you is that you have or will connect with the family in a very intentional way. In Catholic schools, we believe our families are the primary educators, and when parents and teachers work together, the education we offer can be so very rich.
I hope that you will check out the Curriculum Blog! I will keep this blog updated with the current musings and happenings from my office at the Office for Catholic Schools. Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have a burning question, or you have a really cool idea to offer! Currently, I am working with
High School theology teachers who are in the process of translating the Bishops’ Framework to standards. And…we are making progress!
Math teacher-representatives, pre-k through 12, to continue the standard review process in hopes of offering support to our schools in the spring of 2016. Please click here for more information.
Finally, the Professional Development Committee met last week to develop a theme for our professional learning in 2016-2017. We have reviewed the data from Teacher Excellence Day, from the small group work and the evaluations, and we have looked at the information from the Ed Leadership Summer Institute as well as the March Regional Day. As this work develops, we will keep administrators and teachers informed.
I offer you this prayer from Frederick Buechner,
“Lord, catch me off guard today. Surprise me with some moment of beauty or pain. So that at least for the moment I may be started into seeing that you are here in all your splendor, always and everywhere, barely hidden, beneath, beyond, and within this life I breathe. Amen.”
