Required Policies and Procedures Addressing Bullying and Harassment

The 2010 Legislature passed Substitute House Bill 2801, a Washington State law which prohibits harassment, intimidation, and bullying in all schools. Please visit the School Safety Center on the OSPI website and review the definitions as outlined in the bill, a model policy statement and procedures for how to implement the law. There are also links and reports for your review.

If you do not currently have a policy and procedures addressing bullying and harassment, you may use these resources to craft your guidelines. Remember the example procedure is written to reflect the needs of a large school district and is more detailed than what you would use for a local policy.
