Have you ever considered ostracism a form of bullying? It is.

SteeringSteps.com has just added Ostracism to our series of Pro Social Behavior presentations. In addressing this topic we offer presentations for students, staff and parents, as well as resource materials and media that can be used to address the issue. Visit our web site and review this and other topics concerning Pro Social Behavior. Make sure to sign up for our free newsletter to stay informed as to changes in programs and issues affecting your school and community.

Social exclusion can lead to many long term emotional and physical problems if it remains unchecked and is allowed to flourish in your schools. Studies have shown that in recent school shootings that the perpetrator was often identified as a "loner or outcast". Ostracism affects the very core of human nature...the need to belong. Unfortunately, ostracism is silent and extremely difficult to identify, but there are precautions that can be taken. You can teach your students, staff, and parents about this silent bully.

    Sincerely,
    Joe Palmer
