Chinese Guest Teacher & Trainee Program: Apply by February 1, 2012 at www.collegeboard.org/guestteacher
Launch or expand a Chinese language and culture program in your school by hosting a Chinese guest teacher or trainee for the 2012-13 school year. Made possible through collaboration between the College Board and Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban).
    • Host a Teacher: Nearly 600 experienced Chinese guest teachers have taught in U.S. classrooms. The program provides an experienced language teacher from China to work full-time in the host school or district for one to three years. Guest teachers have at least three years of teaching experience and go through a rigorous selection and training process. Participating institutions are responsible for providing a partial salary to the guest teacher, which is subsidized by a stipend from Hanban.
    • Host a Trainee: New in 2012! Established K-12 Chinese programs now have the opportunity to host a Chinese guest trainee. Guest trainees serve as classroom assistants in K-12 schools for one year, where they support authentic Chinese language and culture learning. Trainees have recently completed TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) post-graduate programs in China, and in their U.S. placements, they share their enthusiasm for Chinese language learning with the school community. Host institutions are responsible for providing guest trainees with a structured training plan, complimentary housing and transportation.
Apply now and find out more at www.collegeboard.org/guestteacher, or contact guestteacher@collegeboard.org.

Confucius Institutes and Classrooms Program (CICC): Apply by March 2, 2012
The CICC program, a new Hanban/College Board initiative, aims to support the development of K–12 Chinese language programs in the U.S. by providing guidance on best practices, start-up grants, educational resources and professional development opportunities to participating institutions. The CICC program offers a flexible model that can accommodate large districts acting as Confucius Institutes (CIs) overseeing several school-based Confucius Classrooms (CCs), as well as smaller districts or independent schools establishing individual, school-based CCs. By hosting a CI and/or CCs through this program, school districts and independent schools will receive support to build quality Chinese language programs leading to AP Chinese, which will graduate students with a high level of language proficiency. Apply and download the RFP at www.collegeboard.org/confucius.
