Liturgical Calendar Reminder
Most Dioceses in the United States have transferred the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord to the Seventh Sunday of Easter. This year, in the Archdiocese of Seattle, this Solemnity is celebrated on Sunday, May 20. Please refer to your ORDO for more details.
- The weekdays after the Ascension through the Saturday before Pentecost is a time of preparation for the coming of the Holy Spirit. During these days the hymn, Veni Creator Spiritus may be fittingly sung at Mass.
- The Easter Candle remains in place, either near the ambo or altar, and continues to be lit through Vespers on Pentecost Day.
- To conclude the period of of postbaptismal mystagogy, a celebration should be held for the neophytes and their godparents (see RCIA #249)
