See attached support letter from the Archbishop.
Mission Statement: Inspired by Gospel values, St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic volunteer organization, leads individuals to join together to offer person-to-person service to the poor and the suffering. And in doing this work, we all enrich our lives spiritually.
The St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County is developing new initiatives and partnerships to work collaboratively to help the poor through increasing thrift store donations in an on-going user-friendly approach with our Catholic schools.
As you consider the Society of St. Vincent de Paul as a Catholic service project for your school, please enjoy this letter of support from Archbishop J. Peter Sartain.
"Clean Closets for Catholic Schools Overview" you will read three great and user-friendly programs to assist in the call to serve the poor:
1) Pick Up Kids/Drop off Donations
2) Clean Closet Class Competitions
3) St. Vincent's Anytime Clothing Donations
"Clean Your Closets Week for Catholic Schools" is a new initiative for Lent 2013 for your consideration! Objective: Generate 10,000 donation bags of goods and clothing during the week to sell at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores!
An online service/outreach forum on SCL has been set up as additional resources become available for our schools.
Our primary contact at St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County is Jim McFarland. Jim and his staff will be building and coordinating new ways to tie to our religion curriculum, our call to service, and our Catholic identity standards. As additional resources become available, they will be posted here for your convenience.
If you have additional ideas or questions, please feel free to contact Jim directly:
