Dear Life Justice and Peace Contacts,
World Day of Peace, January 1, 2013 – While the Vatican has not released the text of the annual World Day of Peace message, USCCB has developed an insert/handout concerning Pope Benedict’s theme: “Blessed are the Peacemakers.” I will send another message when the text is available, probably next week.
The Good News People Program from JustFaith Ministries is a parish-wide opportunity to grow in your faith, meet new people and build communities of faith, hope and love in action. The Good News People Program is a fourteen session small group faith-sharing process (7 sessions in the Fall, 7 in the Spring) designed to broaden our awareness of our Catholic faith and the call to be disciples in the world today. It is a journey to deepen our faith, strengthen the bonds of community, and live out the Gospel call to be “good news people.” Through the Good News People Program, parishioners will become more familiar with the biblical witness of Jesus and the call to discipleship through prayer, reflection and action. The Missions Office (archdiocesan liaison with JustFaith Ministries) will gladly assist parishes with registration costs and other resources. Much information and sample materials available at www.justfaith.org.
Please also note that the early registration deadline for the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering is Wednesday, Dec. 12. To register, visit www.catholicsocialministrygathering.org. Among the speakers are Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, and Fr. James Martin, SJ.
Wishing you a peaceful Advent,
Jim
