St. Vincent de Paul Presents:
Clean Your Closets & Help the Poor Campaigns
Lenten Opportunities Abound
If you have students that still need service hours, we have a program idea that is easy and fun to implement: collecting clothing donations for St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores.
Students organize these campaigns with other students and their families. We provide the donation boxes and bags to gather clothes, promotional literature and a guide for organizing and managing “drives to help the poor.” A bag of clothing is generally worth about $50.00 when we sell the items in our stores.
Collect 20 bags and you have generated $1,000 in sales value for our stores.
A Goods & Clothing Competition is the perfect team builder for groups since students have to work together, organize the effort, maintain momentum, report results and learn about the poor, volunteering and charitable giving at the same time.
For us, we are able to generate $500 to $2,500 in sales value in one of these campaign efforts. About 92 cents of every dollar we raise goes to programs.
We are grateful for the leadership and support we have received from your Pastor and we thank the Catholic Schools for past support.
Please let us know if you are interested and we will come visit you and present and explain the simplicity of managing these campaign efforts.
Thank You!
