    GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
    The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. (Directory on the Pastoral Ministry of Bishops, 198)
    Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

    GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
    Responsible for the effective marketing and promotion of Catholic schools at the Archdiocesan, regional, and local levels in order to increase enrollment, retention, and financial support for Catholic Schools, and for collaborating as requested with the Fulcrum Foundation to assist with their messaging and project needs.

    ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

    1. Marketing and Communication Strategy for Catholic Schools: Leads a collaborative process among the Office for Catholic Schools (OCS), the Fulcrum Foundation, and other key stakeholders to develop, refine, and implement a comprehensive and successful marketing plan for Catholic schools in western Washington that will increase the brand recognition and demand for Catholic schools among prospective parents and supporters. Designs and manages a plan for effective internal communication among the OCS and key stakeholders, including principals, pastors, the Fulcrum Foundation, and the offices of the Chancery.
    2. OCS Marketing Strategy/ Fulcrum Foundation: Advises the OCS, the Fulcrum Foundation, heads of schools, and local development directors concerning successful messaging and the effective uses of traditional and new media, including the placement of stories in local news outlets, the effective design of websites, and the uses of social media.
    3. Design and Project Management: Primarily responsible for the design and layout of all OCS marketing materials, including but not limited to: The website, annual reports, newsletters, brochures, event invitations/signage/programs, and marketing collateral. Manages all marketing projects to completion, successfully executing a multiple-draft design, copy, and editing process involving all key players (for example, OCS, Fulcrum, schools, and vendors) so that projects are completed with a high standard of excellence and timeliness. This includes conducting RFPs, negotiating vendor contracts, and managing the requirements of different stakeholders.
    4. Marketing Consultant: As the leader for marketing, is responsible to set best practices in school marketing and to serve as an on-call consultant to all Catholic schools in western Washington. This includes developing a case and value proposition for Catholic schools, designing resources such as checklists and templates to assist heads of schools and development directors with their marketing and enrollment management programs, making public presentations and providing training opportunities for Catholic school personnel who are responsible for marketing and enrollment.
    5. Marketing Liaison: With direction from the superintendent, represents Catholic schools on joint-committees for marketing, including national initiatives for marketing Catholic schools and Archdiocesan commissions for marketing issues. Works collaboratively with adjunct organizations (e.g. The Fulcrum Foundation, the Archdiocese of Seattle’s Office for Communication, Development Directors’ Associations, other dioceses, deaneries, schools, NCEA, and CASE) to facilitate marketing efforts undertaken on an inter-organizational or collaborative level.
    6. Budget Analysis and Management: Manages an annual OCS Marketing Budget, develops yearly budget proposals and justifications as needed, tracks expenditures monthly to ensure that projects and initiatives stay within budget.
    7. Oversees Delegated or Outsourced Projects: Delegates work overflow as necessary and ensures that work products conform to OCS messaging and production standards.
    8. Ongoing Review: In consultation with the superintendent and the staff of the OCS, annually reports on the activities of the year, including consultations with schools and achievement of targets for enrollment, retention, documented inquiries, and other markers of success for marketing, and updates the marketing plan and, where necessary, the messaging.
