SUBJECT: Archdiocesan Academic School Calendar for 2014-2015
To assist Catholic school principals in their planning, the Office for Catholic Schools annually prepares an Archdiocesan Academic School Calendar. According to Archdiocesan School Policy (Management Section 5.1d), each school submits its calendar to the Office for Catholic Schools for the upcoming academic year. A school’s calendar may have different starting and ending dates, but each school must show at least 180 student contact days for the academic year of 2014-2015. Any variation from this requirement must be approved by the superintendent.
The 2014-2015 Academic Calendar tool is available at link. Calendars must be submitted by March 31, 2014 to allow the Office for Catholic Schools to collate the information within the first two weeks in June. The Archdiocesan Academic School Calendar and Regulations are attached below.
The school’s calendar should demonstrate a rigorous plan for student instruction, with opportunities provided for teachers’ professional growth and faith formation. The October 3rd 2014 Teacher Excellence Day and the March 20th, 2015 Regional Curriculum Development Day are full days that all school principals and teachers are expected to attend. The date for the 2015 Fulcrum Foundation Celebration of Light is still being determined. Once this date is scheduled (either the last Friday in January or the first Friday in February), school auctions should not be celebrated on that weekend.
I hope that this information assists your planning for the ministry of Catholic education on behalf of our students, their parents, and your faculties and staffs.
I wish you the blessings of hope and joy during this Advent season.
