GoodSearch is a great way to raise money without selling anything.
GoodSearch last year paid out 1.3 cents per search. Imagine each student and all those searches. Register today and earn money. Ask your IT department to set up GoodSearch on your server. Click GoodSearch today...here's how:
1. Register your school.
2. Install a toolbar on each school computer, or have your IT team set up the search engine link from your server.
3. Educate your staff, students and community members. Ask local business people to use GoodSearch as well.
4. GoodSearch sends checks each year in December.
Once you have this in place, consider setting up GoodShop, which pays you a percentage of each purchase from online retailers such as Amazon.com and hundreds of others.

Another way to raise money and awareness...Join our online auction
Our online auction is back...Thanks to Kathleen, our volunteer auction manager, we have an online auction available for your school to particpate in. Schools that participate can raise money for their local Haas fund.
Consider donating a "Principal for the Day" experience, or two seats at graduation, or a special parking space...(items that don't really cost the school anything). When the items sell, the school is responsible for shipping or delivering the item. The Haas volunteer team will manage all the thank-you notes, process the bids, and run the online auction. We split the proceeds with you 50-50%.
Bid for the good!

Join our Adopt-A-School Drive...
Are you seeking a simple, easy way to ask for donations for your school's Haas Fund? We've launched a drive that allows schools to set up their own fundraising page. It runs through March 31, 2010. Write to Jean at adopt_a_school_drive@haasfoundation.org to register your school, or contact Development Director Terry Burns at (206) 352-1199.

GoodShop
Do you ever use the internet to shop for your school or office...or even for yourself? The next time you buy tickets for a movie or a trip, consider logging into our homepage and going through "GoodShop." Haas will receive a percentage of what you purchase.
Also consider enrolling your school and promoting this for your own building. Checks are mailed in December from GoodShop.

Haas Foundation still has matching funds available...we anticipate funding to be gone by March 1.
We fundraise all school year long to provide matching support for our schools. We currently have funding available but anticipate that this year's matching funds will run out in late January. Please submit your requests for matching funds now by logging in and entering the amount you have raised locally. We'll match up to half of your August grant amount for as long as our matching funds last. Note: we have anticipated schools who are particiapting in our drive and have protected matching for these schools.

Story of the Day
From Sultan Middle School , Featured on 2/2/2010
Small things can make a BIG difference. A new student came to the principal and was very concerned as he needed a lock for PE but there was no money at home for even this small item. It was apparent that the student was quite worried about the situation. Using Haas Foundation funds, we were able to quickly purchase a lock for him and give it to him by the time he had PE that day. The look on his face when he was given the lock said it all. A mental burden had been lifted and he smiled from ear to ear.

Message from the Executive Director
Dear School Coordinators, Principals, and Friends,
Do you have new people who need a tutorial on Haas funds? Are you an infrequent user of your school's Haas Fund web site? Do you want to become more comfortable with and effective at using Haas funds? If the answer is "yes" to any of these, then read on...we'll be offering training sessions using Skype and InnerPass, free online tools that are particularly helpful for school staff members who can't afford to take time off to attend in-person training sessions. To book an appointment, e-mail support@haasfoundation.org, and our Support Team Members will send you instructions to ensure your technology is properly prepared for your personal coaching session.
You can also join our in-person training sessions (please thank our ESDs for hosting us!):
Pasco ESD, Feb. 26, 10 a.m. to noon
Seattle/Tacoma Puget Sound ESD, date & time pending. Stay tuned. We will send out a separate mailing.
Meet Bonnie Hilory, Executive Director of the Haas Foundation. Learn about the nuts and bolts of managing the grant, how to submit your year-end report, how to enter disbursements, etc. The session is free. Please RSVP to support@haasfoundation.org. These sessions are rare, and we highly suggest you or others managing the Haas fund attend one of these informative meetings.
Please save the following dates:
January-March Adopt-A-School Drive with First Giving occurs
Feb. 12 Statewide Art Contest closes
February online Auction
March 12 Pathways to Parity Breakfast, Seattle Aquarium (Winners of the Art of Parity announced)
May 1 Year-end report opens
June 30 (each year) your school's year-end report is due by midnight. Some districts may move this up, but the REAL deadline is June 30.
Thank you for putting our young people first, and for all that you do. It's a pleasure to work with you. We're humbled by your dedication and devotion to our students. There are many ways to be involved with us. As a school partner, a donor ($37.50 helps a student), as a judge for our statewide art contest, HEAP member, etc. Please consider getting more involved. Thank you again for your continued support.
Appreciatively,
Bonnie Hilory | Executive Director
