Getting ready for the Religion Standards Roll-out! On Thursday, February 27, the Religion Review Committee met and energetically worked on the following:
1. Creating a grade level glossary keyed to the standards
a. Content specific - for that particular grade level
b. Challenge grade level words Scripture reference words: names, places, events
2. Began to work on the summative end-of-year common assessments based on the power standards at each grade level.
3. We reviewed a proposal for the Religion section of a report card - keyed to the standards.
4. We reviewed a proposal for clarity in the Service Framework, making the recommendation that the term "Discipleship" be adopted in lieu of "Service." Reason? Discipleship implies a reflective piece: We have been called, and we are reflecting and responding as disciples.
I thank each of the committee members - 2 principals and 15 teachers - (I recall how difficult it is to prepare for a substitute) and I thank each member for the enthusiasm, clarity and insight each brings to this process. We meet again on Thursday, May 1.
The Religion Standards document will be offered to schools via the web, and some printed resources by the end of May.
