RE: RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
Dear Friends in Christ:
The Office for Catholic Schools (OCS) along with our Superintendent for Catholic Schools, Fr. Stephen Rowan, and the Seattle Archdiocesan School Board invite you to recommend two deserving candidates for these awards given by the Dioceses.
The annual Sister Mary Taylor Award was established by the Archdiocesan School Board in January 1986 to recognize distinguished service to Catholic education by teachers, staff, administrators, and those who have made outstanding gifts of their time, talent, and resources in the service of Catholic schools. The award is named in honor of Sister Mary Taylor, SNJM, a well-respected teacher, administrator, and Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Seattle.
The Archbishop Alex J. Brunett Award was established in 2011 by the Archdiocesan School Board to recognize distinguished service to Catholic education by a pastor, priest or deacon. The award is named in honor of Archbishop Alex J. Brunett, in recognition of his support for Catholic education, during his service as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Seattle for 13 years.
I know there are many unsung heroes in our school leadership and among the staff who make our children's lives so rich and blessed. This is marvelous opportunity to say "Thank you" to those individuals that have given so much to the Catholic Education process.
Nomination forms are attached; nominations must be received by the Office for Catholic Schools no later than May 5, 2014. Award recipients will be recognized at the annual Teacher Excellence Day on October 3, 2014.
Please refer your questions to Rachel Baker, Chair of Awards, at (253) 686-7474, or email me at machrach@comcast.net.
Thank you and God bless,
Rachel Baker
