• New Background Check System for Archdiocese of Seattle

    New Archdiocesan Background Check System
    Dear Principals,

As you know, we temporarily suspended the background check system last month as a result of the Tax Fraud/Identity Theft Scam. Since that time, we have been working to set up an alternate system to produce comprehensive background check results, while being sensitive to applicants’ understandable reluctance to provide their Social Security Numbers. In order to do so, we will be working with a new vendor, Trak-1 Technology from Tulsa, OK.

Please understand that this is not an indication that our previous vendor, CICS Employment Services, was the source of the problem that led to the tax fraud. We are investigating all possibilities for the source of the breach. Separate FBI, IRS and independent forensic investigations are ongoing. Despite our best efforts, the source of the breach has not yet been determined.

What does this mean for your school?

    LEVEL I ARCHDIOCESAN SCHOOLS
Effective, Friday, 25 April, all background check requests are being processed through Trak-1. As with the previous system, each Level I archdiocesan school has an individual account set-up for their location with Trak-1 and the Background Check contact person should have received log-on and password information via email on Friday. Please contact the Safe Environment Program if you did not receive your log-on and password.
Please see the email that was sent Thursday night with specific information about the new system, a Trak-1 User’s Guide and forms.

    LEVEL II INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
Level II independent schools have their own policies and protocols regarding background checks. For any of you who are also considering a change in background check vendors, Trak-1 has extended the archdiocesan volume prices to independent schools that would like to set-up a system through them. Please email Shawna McMahon at shawnamc@seattlearch.org for information.

Thank you for all of your assistance during this transition and thank you for your continued dedication to protecting the safety of our children!

Please do not hesitate to call the Safe Environment Program at (206) 274-3188 or sep@seattlearch.org with any questions!
