July 15-16, 2014; 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Location: Puget Sound ESD
Cost: $185 (includes DVD "How to Create Instructional Videos and Flip Your Classroom")
Learn how to use instructional videos to free yourself up to work one on one with kids! You can literally create 2 of you in your classroom. There can be the electronic, digital, recorded video you and the live, in-person you. You will see how to create a learning center inside your classroom so that while one group is watching an instructional video, you can work with the other group, thus reducing the teacher/student ratio by 50%. In this class, you will also learn what flipping a classroom is and what the benefits are for that teaching strategy. Options available for flipping a classroom will be covered, and you will learn how to use an electronic white board, document camera, and pen tablet in creating instructional videos. Prerequisites: You must bring a PC laptop (sorry, no Macs) to class with My Screen Recorder Pro already installed. A trial version may be downloaded at http://www.deskshare.com/.
The instructor is Randy Brown, the 2013 Stanley O. McNaughton Golden Apple Award winner who has created over 500 instructional videos using his school district's curriculum. He says that this is the most powerful, overnight transformation in education he has ever experienced in his 30 years in the classroom.
