ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND GOLF: The First Green Foundation is an innovative project connecting teachers/students to golf courses for field trips and other environmental education projects. Schools across the state of Washington use their local golf courses for these field trips. Golf course superintendents and/or local golf course representatives host students on field trips where they test water quality, collect soil samples, identify plants, design plantings, assist in stream bed restoration and are involved in the ecology and environmental aspects of the golf course. First Green Foundation promotes and provides environmental education using golf courses as outdoor learning labs—Links As Labs.
The students are also introduced to many other aspects of golf. If your school is interested, please contact Dr. Karen Armstead, Executive Director of First Green Foundation to learn how to connect your middle school and high school students to this innovative program and their nearest golf course. Tick, tick, tick……

    Dear Principals,

We are extending the Instructional Staff AppliTrack portfolio deadline to March 15, which is after the March 11 Principals’ meeting. This allows you to learn how to check your school’s list of portfolios by using a new tool called Shared Folders. In the afternoon, there will be an optional session on AppliTrack.

If you want to see tool before the meeting, you can access the AppliTrack documentation by clicking on the AppliTrack button on the left side of our website SeeCelebrateAndLive.org, The step-by-step guide is posted as a pdf file: Principal Access to Internal Portfolios.pdf. If you are comfortable with AppliTrack, you can just use the following clicks:

My Account (tab) > View Shared Folders > yourschool-city-Internal (Search Folder)

Please note two things that might be confusing to you:

    1. Some names appear that are not at your school. These are applicants who “wandered” in by accident. You can select them and collectively sent them an email asking them to correct their portfolio.
    2. As a Principal or President, your name and portfolio will not be included in your school’s list. You are the only one who can see your own portfolio, which you do by logging on as yourself. Thus, if you have an assistant who logs on to AppliTrack as the school user, they will not have access to your Portfolio.

MARCH 15th CSD GOAL: To have ALL SCHOOL CERTIFIED EMPLOYEES fully enrolled in the ePortfolio portion of AppliTrack by March 15, 2010. As of today: 907 principals and teachers are fully enrolled in AppliTrack/ePortfolio. Keep going! Thank you!

    Respectfully submitted,
    Sandra Barton Smith
