• Catholic Identity Curriculum Integration - New Website

    Dear School Leaders,

We would like to take this opportunity to apprise you of a new development in our continuing efforts to provide services to assist you with the integration of Catholic identity into learning standards, curriculum, and teaching.

Over the past three years, the Common Core Catholic Identity Initiative (CCCII) has provided workshops, webinars, website resources, consultations, and professional development programs at national meetings and diocesan gatherings with the goal of promoting rigorous curriculum infused with Catholic values — regardless of the diocese's choice to adopt or adapt the Common Core State Standards.

The shared mission of every Catholic school is to ensure academic excellence in the context of an authentically Catholic education. To emphasize the importance of integrating Catholic values into a rigorous curriculum, the name of CCCII will be changed to Catholic Identity Curriculum Integration (CICI). Materials on the new site will highlight locally developed standards-based curriculum units and lesson plans infused with Catholic values.

    The CICI mission statement reads:
Catholic Identity Curriculum Integration (CICI) is a national collaborative project to develop and disseminate academic resources and professional development that supports the integration of Catholic identity into locally developed rigorous standards-based curriculum. CICI will accomplish this by:
    • Developing and disseminating frameworks, guidelines, and resources
    • Collaborating with NCEA, Catholic universities, religious congregations, and corporations and sponsors supportive of Catholic education
    • Empowering peer reviewers to design and evaluate curriculum units to be shared on the website

On September 8 the CCCII website migrates to a new URL address: www.cici-online.org. The old website address will re-direct contacts to the new site. We ask that you advise your schools of this change. We will also make note of it in the NCEA newsletters.

We anticipate a smooth transition and look forward to providing greater opportunities for all educators to access resources to assist their efforts to provide a high-quality Catholic education for all students.

    Sincerely,
    Robert R. Bimonte, FSC
    President, NCEA
