• Private School Annual Approval for 2015-2016 School Year - OSPI

    Dear School Leaders,

The annual Private Education Approval application opened on February 20, 2015. This is a compliance requirement for all of our 74 Catholic schools which initiates the re-approval process for all approved private schools in Washington state. As was mentioned last fall, OSPI has changed the re-approval dates to bring it in line with the requirements in Chapter 180-90 WAC. The deadline is April 14, 2015.

The OSPI memorandum NO. 012-15M Secondary Education and Student Support has been sent to each school leader directly. If you have not been in EDS (https://eds.ospi.k12.wa.us/login.aspx) for some time, you will need to change your password. Passwords will need to be changed every 90 days.

2/26/15- Update message from Laura Moore:
In reviewing the applications for re-approval, I’ve started to notice a couple of reoccurring problems:
    1. Page 2—Residential School is not a school located in a residential area; it is a school that has students on campus 24/7. Another name for such a school is a boarding school.
    2. Page 2—Grade Span—an increasing number are forgetting to change the grade span of the school to what it should be. The default is P-12. These are drop-down menus that need to be selected to reflect the proper grade span for your school.
