How Do I Learn Summer Institute – June 22 – 26, 2015

Middle School Teachers:
Join a team from the University of Washington and Puget Sound ESD for this FREE week-long intensive summer institute on the UW campus which connects neuroscience with teaching and learning. The institute’s purpose is twofold: to increase participants' understanding of the adolescent brain, and to assist them in aligning their teaching practices with this new knowledge.
Our focus this year is on stress and its impact on learning. During the institute, teams of middle school teachers will be introduced to basic neuroscience concepts through hands-on activities, new pedagogical models, and presentations by and discussions with neuroscience experts. Explore with us as we investigate the intersection between neuroscience and learning science and how to use knowledge of the adolescent brain increase your knowledge of neuroscience and how it can impact your students’ achievements. Participants will receive stipends of $700 upon successful completion of the institute and associated activities.
