We will be offering one more gradebook training session in May. It will be offered on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, in the small Isaac Orr Conference Room at the Chancery, 910 Marion St..
We will start at 9:00, as the building does not open until 8:30. Lunch time should be about 12:00, and the afternoon session will start at 1:00 and be done by 4:00. There are many restaurants located around the Chancery so there are abundant options. Some parking is available under the building (P1), and overflow parking is available in the Cabrini garage east of the Chancery.
This training is for:
- Administrators who need to have a better understanding of the gradebook and how it works
- New teachers to learn basic gradebook usage
- Lead teachers at schools that are considering changes to their assessment and reporting processes
- Teachers who have been tasked with representing their school on the report card group that Kristin Dixon and Sandy Smith have formed
In this day-long hands-on session, you will use a gradebook while learning how to apply nationally-recognized grading expert Ken O'Connor's 15 fixes in PowerTeacher Gradebook to support standard-based grading and student learning. Find out how both extra credit and penalties for late work can be detrimental, and how you can help teachers at your school use more effective grading practices.
NOTE: Each attendee will need to bring their own laptop (note, not iPads or Chromebooks, they can't run the full gradebook, which is needed for this class).
Each session has a maximum of 35 attendees. If there is more demand, we will schedule additional sessions either during the summer or in the next school year.
Please RSVP to me with who will be attending from your school, so necessary training materials can be prepared for each attendee. We will provide clock hours for this session.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
Steve
