Holy Thursday, 2010
Dear Rice Bowl contacts,
Operation Rice Bowl this Lent has again called us to pray with our families, friends, co-workers and faith communities; to fast in solidarity with those who hunger; to learn more about our global community and the challenges of poverty overseas; and to give sacrificial contributions to those in need. We are very grateful for all that you do to help your community answer that call.
Rice Bowl Grants: The annual process is now open for submitting applications for Rice Bowl grants. Deadline: May 14. The information/criteria/guidelines and the forms are available on our web site: www.seattlearch.org/missions, and by contacting us* for emailing or mailing to you or those you direct us to. If by email, please let us know if you need the materials in Word or PDF. If you want to know who received grants last year, that information is also available on our web site, or we can send the list to you.
Evaluate Rice Bowl: Catholic Relief Services depends on you (the best in the U.S.!) to continue to improve on the Operation Rice Bowl program. Now or soon after Easter might be a good time for all of us and your colleagues to take a couple of minutes online and evaluate the program: http://orb.crs.org. The evaluation sheet is also printed, for mailing to CRS, in the Educator’s Guide and of the Community and Parish Guide.
Again, thank you for your solidarity with sisters and brothers here and beyond our borders!
"The principle of solidarity reminds us that as members of one human family, we see every ‘other’ as our neighbor, who must share in the banquet of life to which all are equally invited by God.” (A Place at the Table, U.S. Bishops)
