Missionary Discipleship and Urban Immersion

This week, I will be meeting with representative/leaders from the Missions Office, Maryknoll Missionaries, the Cathedral Youth Ministry Program, Christ Our Hope Youth Education Program and St. Vincient dePaul. The collective vision of this group desires to develop a program that could be implemented in any school or parish regardless of the region.

Based on current programs, we are gathering best practices to produce a set of lessons for teachers and local service agencies to implement when participating in an all-day immersion service opportunity. Our Strategic Plan calls for developing opportunities that provide deeper understanding of the call to discipleship, and an intentional moving away from the term "service learning". We hope to help our students embrace discipleship as a way of life to help build the Kingdom of Heaven where ever we find ourselves.
