| Dear Catechetical Colleagues, |
| Our "Essential Concepts" this month are focused on the topic of Liturgical Resources that opens this week with "Liturgical Calendar". As you know, our new Liturgical Year will begin on the First Sunday of Advent, November 29th. We will be moving to Cycle C, the Gospel of Luke. Thus, this is an excellent time to consider how we are highlighting a new liturgical season and also how the liturgical calendar is structured and celebrated. We are also drawing very close to the Jubilee Year of Mercy that opens on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Please note the new app (featured below) from Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) that offers a rich treasury of resources to guide us through this special time. We will be routinely highlighting events around the Archdiocese, resources and current news related to the Year of Mercy. Be sure to check this section often! We also would like to remind you that this week is National Bible Week. Have you taken the Bible Quiz from USCCB? If not, you might want to take a look at the many ways we can encourage our catechists and families to learn more about Sacred Scripture! Take the quiz and get a chance to receive 1 of 50 NABRE Bibles from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops! St. Mary's Press is offering a great deal on Prayers by Heart: The Catholic Children's Prayer Book for the month of November. Order 25 copies, get 5 more free.
