Dear Catechetical Colleagues,
Our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving both deepen our longing for God and also help us develop virtues, which are our featured "Essential Concept" this week.
Faith, hope and charity are the three Theological Virtues that are gifts from God. Prudence, justice, temperance and fortitude are the Cardinal Virtues. They are rooted in the Theological Virtues and acquired through human intellect and will. We hope you find the attached resources helpful with encouraging all of us in forming habitual and firm dispositions to do the good that is purified and elevated by divine grace (CCC 1803-1812).
Be sure to check the NCCL section below for a free download available from Our Sunday Visitor. Partnering with the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, OSV is offering a pastoral aid, in the form of a downloadable PDF, to help your parish celebrate the "24 Hours for the Lord" on March 4-5, 2016.
In Christ,
