| Dear Catechetical Colleagues, |
| This week our "Essential Concept" is Catholic Social Teaching, which includes the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. These works of physical kindness and spiritual compassion are the hands and heart of our Year of Mercy. As many of you know, during the past several weeks, I have been in Wisconsin with my siblings as we journey with my Dad in his earthly dying process. As my Dad's body weakens, we are helping him more and more with eating, drinking and getting dressed - so similar to the support we offered our children when they were growing up. As a family, we are also asking God's grace to be patient, forgiving and prayerful with Dad and one another. It has definitely offered us a blessed time to reflect on how the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy are gifts we experience both with those very close to us, and also within the broader community of hospice workers who are with us daily during Dad's transition to eternal life. Once again, I hope you take the time to open some of the many resources attached to this newsletter and also our Library Media Center website. Lisa continues to curate and archive rich print and digital resources across the catechetical spectrum. You are in my ongoing prayers. I am ever so grateful for your graciousness during this extended time when I have not been physically present in my office. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing many of you soon with Dr. Ann Garrido's presentation on March 15th and our Religious Education Workshop/Retreat on April 28th and 29th. In Christ, Anne |
