“Bearing Witness – Anti-Semitism, The Holocaust and Contemporary Issues”

Join Catholic school educators from across the United States for Bearing Witness, a six-day intensive study experience designed to give you the skills and resources to bring the lessons of anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, and modern-day prejudice to your students and communities.
This national professional development program, held in Washington, D.C., utilizes the unique expertise of each of its partner organizations to bring these topics to life and create a one-of-a-kind experience. Experts in Jewish studies, Holocaust studies, and Catholic-Jewish relations lead sessions covering such topics as:
• The History of Anti-Semitism
• Jews and Judaism in the New Testament
• Jewish History, Practices and Beliefs
• Guidelines and Methodology for teaching the Holocaust
• The churches and the Holocaust
• Catholic-Jewish Relations
• Anti-Semitism after the Holocaust
• Jews and the State of Israel
Accommodations, meals and limited number of travel stipends are provided by the Anti-Defamation League. Participants will receive continuing education units through the Georgetown University Center for Jewish Civilization, Graduate credit may also be available.
Middle school and high school teachers of history/social studies, English/language arts, religion/theology, and morality/social justice, as well as administrators and librarians, are encouraged to apply.
