Dear Wonderful Diversified Learners Committee Members,
It has been a full and rewarding Spring for the DL initiatives!
On March 12th, we were able to celebrate a beautiful Mass honoring our Families with Students with Special Needs here at St. James Cathedral with Archbishop Sartain. It was a great morning that ended with a St. Patrick's Day reception and dance over at the O'Dea Gym. There are some good pictures that captured the Irish mischief! Thanks O'Dea for being our faithful DL partner!
Easter Vacation brought the NCEA Convention in San Diego! The DL Committee leadership presented a session called: "Serving All in Our Care: An Archdiocesan Approach to Serving Diverse Learners Through Parish-School Partnerships" presented by Dan Sherman, Martine Romero, Erica Cohen-Moore and Sandy Barton Smith. It was well received and we will be sharing some of our DL resources and the NCEA ppt with all of the school leaders at our final Principals' Leadership meeting on Monday, May 16th at the Palisades Retreat Center.
Which brings me to our last item! Our LAST Diversified Learners Executive Committee meeting for the year will be Thursday, April 14th from 9 - 11AM at the large Isaac Orr Conference Room, The Chancery. DL members, the agenda and registration link has already been send via email but is also included for your convenience.
The DL Committee anticipates a very busy spring and we thank ALL members who are working tirelessly to build inclusive Catholic schools throughout western Washington. THANK YOU.
Blessings always,
Sandy
