• MAP Testing Window - Important to Note

Some of you have asked about the necessity of the testing window, and if we can extend it. Simply stated, we cannot. When we consulted with the principals about the number of test events, many indicated that they wanted 3 - fall, winter and spring. As a result, we had limited flexibility to determine these dates while considering the school calendar. A statement on establishing test windows from NWEA:

    Guidelines for test windows:

    • Length—Keep the test window length short (about 3 weeks) so you can make valid comparisons, especially between students in the same grade.
    • Consistency—To ensure valid comparisons from one academic year to the next, try to keep the timing consistent.
    • Spacing—Provide enough instruction between testing to give you meaningful growth measurements. For example, schools typically test around week 4 in the fall, week 20 in the winter, and week 32 in the spring.

We have entered our last week of testing. From most schools, I hear good reports regarding the actual implementation. I thank you for your efforts to meet the many requirements this assessment has placed on you. You have done a remarkable job! Our next testing event should be so much easier. I keep you in my prayers during this final week of testing, and in gratitude for all you do!
