Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) Changes
The new and improved CIS will be available in the Immunization Information System (IIS) when we upgrade this Thursday, December 8th. The CIS can be tedious and confusing for parents to fill out, so we are trying to make the process easier. The new and improved CIS helps streamline the process of assessing a child's immunization status for school and child care. We encourage all users to generate the CIS from the IIS and print it for parents or encourage them to access their child's CIS through MyIR. Parents can also email or call our office to get a copy of their child's CIS at WAIISRecords@doh.wa.gov or 1-866-397-0337.
For those of you preparing for kindergarten registration, a new hard copy CIS will be available on our web page hopefully by the end of December. The 2017-18 Vaccines Required charts will be available on our web page shortly.
The new CIS compares each child's immunization record in the IIS with school and child care requirements and shows a Pass, Fail, or Temporary status. This version of the CIS helps everyone easily determine if a child has all the required immunizations. The CIS also shows if a child has positive titers or history of varicella disease, and does not need vaccination.
More changes are coming to the CIS in 2017. Here are a few changes you can expect in the future:
- The Pass/Fail/Temporary status will be changed to Complete/Not Complete/Conditional status.
- If a child is in Conditional or Not Complete status, an Immunization Action Report will print on the second page of the CIS showing which vaccines are due.
For more information on the new CIS, please review the printing instructions, access Frequently Asked Questions, or watch our August 31st webinar. If you have additional questions please contact us at oicpschools@doh.wa.gov.
