• Reflective Experiences from the Office for Youth & Young Adult Evangelization

    LENT IS COMING.

…and it’s only one week away, so come and stand in solidarity with your fellow young adults in actively preparing for the arrival of Christ Jesus.

This year the Office for Youth & Young Adult Evangelization is proud – once again – to provide two reflective experiences for our archdiocesan young adults (ages 18-39):
    • First, the Lenten Reflections Program. This year we will be using the CRS Rice Bowl resource for/by young adults, Community Reflections: Encounter Lent. The program offers five modules for parish young adult groups to gather for five weekly sessions between March 1 (Ash Wednesday) and April 23. In addition to Catholic Relief Service's modules, we have developed a sixth session based on the Pastoral letter from the Catholic Bishops of the State of Washington, Who Is My Neighbor? The Face of Poverty in Washington State. This session follows the same structure as the other five modules from CRS.
    • As Young Adult Ministry leadership – if you decide to facilitate a group or help get a group together – a leader’s guide has been assembled as a supporting resource during those six weeks. As such, and given the timeliness of some of the issues this resource addresses, its framework is found in the Corporal Works of Mercy knowing that all we do flows from our relationship with God and our call to discipleship. This guide offers links to all the resources needed for the sessions, best practices & guidelines for small groups, as well as suggested timelines for each evening. To find the guide and/or to sign up a group, head over to our website!
    • Second, the annual Holy Thursday Midnight Pilgrimage. You will see there is no session module for the week of April 13th. This is because we invite all to join us for our annual bilingual pilgrimage out on the streets of Seattle, with Archbishop Sartain and Bishop Elizondo leading us all on this journey of faith. Come meet up with us after participating in your Parish Liturgy or after the 6pm Mass at St. James Cathedral. For more information and continuing updates, check out the Facebook event page here.

We hope that you will be a part of one or both of these Lenten experiences!
