Our final international stop on this year’s Lenten tour is Ethiopia. Students encounter Dita, a businesswoman who has been able to feed her family three meals a day, despite a devastating drought. In exploring her story, students will also learn about the Catholic social teaching principle, Care for Creation.
No tickets required to get to Ethiopia—just a CRS Rice Bowl. And these links:
- Dita's Story of Hope: Read Dita’s story as a class to introduce your students to this skilled businesswoman.
- Lesson Plans & Activity Sheets: Click on your grade and scroll to this week’s country to find what you need to delve deeper into this week’s story and Catholic social teaching principle.

PS - As Lent draws to a close, don’t forget to remind students and their families to begin collecting their Lenten alms so that they can be put to good use as soon as possible. You might want to adapt and send this letter home to inform parents.
