• Guidance on difficulties with MAP testing

We're hearing that MAP testing is not going well right now, with difficulties proctoring and students being exited from testing or otherwise being unable to test.

NWEA reports that this problem is not limited to us (other dioceses are experiencing it too) and they are working to find the root cause which they hope to communicate and resolve as soon as possible.

Following is guidance from Superintendent Kristin Dixon on how to proceed:

    Good morning Principals,
In light of the difficulties many schools are experiencing with the testing this fall, NWEA is recommending that testing be suspended until they can find a solution. Please know that we will extend the test window by one week to allow for this issue.

The summary of my conversation with our account representative, Mark Duquette, follows:

Below is the recommendation that just came down from our engineering team. You will see that we are recommending that all testing be suspended for today. Please accept my sincere apologies for this ugly inconvenience but know that resolution of this issue is of the highest priority at NWEA. I will send you an update Friday afternoon.

Summary: The MAP Growth system is experiencing significant performance issues affecting proctoring and tests. Engineers are actively investigating the issue.

Our recommendation is to suspend testing for today. If students are in the midst of testing and aren’t experiencing issues, please continue to completion.
