Christ in the Classroom Program - Catechetical Certification for Catholic Schools
The Christ in the Classroom Program (CIC) has been designed to communicate core premises of the Catholic faith so Catholic school administrators and teaching faculty (certified or pending certification; Catholic or non-Catholic) can teach students by centering all aspects of school life in the person of Jesus Christ. The new catechetical certification program for Catholic schools, Christ in the Classroom, (CIC) is beginning to launch this Fall. While there is a two-year roll-out of this new program, please know that we recognize that this is a significant shift which can cause some confusion and frustration. I encourage each school to share and discuss this Christ in the Classroom Overview within a faculty meeting setting. Many schools will be participating in their LOCAL Christ in the Classroom Foundation Retreats this Friday, October 6th, in lieu of Teacher Excellence Day. The OCS is also beginning to open up additional CIC resources in MYDESK > Instructional Support > Christ in the Classroom.
I sincerely thank those who have worked tirelessly to secure their Catechetical Certification through the Office of Catholic Faith Formation over these past ten years. During this time of transition from CCP to the Christ in the Classroom Program, the Office for Catholic Faith Formation (OCFF) has been a supportive colleague to us all. In March 2017, the OCFF leadership offered our school leadership a timeline for their transition into an updated CCP Program for parish catechists. I have attached this reference document again to help school faculty who might be interested in finishing up the OCFF - CCP Program noting the options that may be worthy of consideration.

Finally, the OCS has made a short CIC Foundation Leadership video to capture our faith moments at the Catholic School CIC Foundation Leadership Retreat in Seabeck, WA Sept. 21 - 22, 2017. Please enjoy the fruits of our labor at https://animoto.com/play/RVwNkd2pQiCnAln3uTYhrA (3 minutes,19 seconds of joy)
Here we go....together!
Blessings today,
