    Dear Principals,

Professional Development for SMART Board LESSON PLANNING:
This web site is FULL of lesson plans! You don't have to download them to see them anymore; you can preview most of them. The other neat thing about this site is you can also change the location in the top right hand corner to Canada and browse through their lessons.

The other website that may be helpful to use in curriculum development and planning is found at: http://www.exchange.smarttech.com/curriculum.html
On this webpage, you can search for lessons based on state standards. This summer might be the time to align Washington State Standards with your SMART Board tools.

ONLINE SEMINAR FOR CATHOLIC TEACHERS from CATHOLIC DISTANCE UNIVERSITY: Now that the end-of-school rush is over (or almost over), CDU would like to tell you about an upcoming seminar that has been created for our Catholic school teachers in the United States. The Catholic School: The Challenge, The Culture, The Charism offers a unique opportunity for principals, administrators, pastors, and teachers to come together in a virtual classroom to explore, discuss, and better understand the current challenges facing our Catholic schools. Our Catholic schools provide a culture whose nature is to foster communion with Christ, and whose charism includes critical opportunities for evangelization today. This seminar will explore five defining dimensions of Catholic schools found in the documents of the Second Vatican Council and post-conciliar statements on Catholic education.
    • The seminar runs July 12 – August 2 with course instructor Sr. Mary Brendon, SND, D.Minn.
    • Seminar tuition is $150 per person ($143 if you enroll before tuition rates go up on July 1). If you have a group of 10 or more, the tuition rate drops to $95 per person.
    • The seminar earns 1 CEUs or 10 clock hours in catechetics and theology with a certificate sent upon completion.
    • There is no requirement to log into the seminar at a certain time each week.
    • All you need to fully participate in the seminar is two to three hours a week and the Internet.
Attached in this mailing, is a flyer that can be emailed to your teachers and others who may be interested in this seminar. For more information on the web, visit http://www.cdu.edu/documents/continu..._seminars.html
THE WEEKLY PRINCIPAL/PASTOR MAILING: The CSD will be sending the weekly mailing to core school/parish leadership through Monday, June 28th and will then move to summer schedule. The Weekly Principal/Pastor Mailing will formally resume on Monday, August 2nd.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Sandra Barton Smith
