First Green Foundation Hosting Unique Teacher Workshop on October 8
Links As Labs—Environmental Education Resources
First Green’s educational outreach programs include teacher workshops scheduled on the state teacher education release day—October 8 this year. Teachers attending will receive 6 hours of continuing education credit through the Washington State Office of Public Instruction for attending this day of informational speakers, learning labs and an educational field trip on the golf course. (Hopefully, the salmon will be spawning in Kelsey Creek, which runs through the golf course.)
Workshop Topics:
Washington State University’s learning labs at Palouse Ridge Golf Club
Urban environmental programs on golf courses—examples of programs and why golf course environmental practices create student learning sites
Field trip activities for teachers of students at all grade level
Environmental research at WSU Puyallup
Golf course environmental certifications and examples of stewardship implemented this summer at both the US Senior Open Tournament at Sahalee and the US Amateur at Chamber Bay
First Green learning labs designed for field trip programs
Resource materials for teachers available for teachers.
