• NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award

    December 14, 2010

    Dear Principals:

We are very pleased to announce that this year’s NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award from our region is being presented to Ms. Deb Werner, technology director at St. Catherine School. Deb embodies the qualities of an outstanding Catholic school educator: love of her students, love of teaching, love of learning, and love of her faith. She is the consummate teacher, always looking for ways to motivate students and to help them meet and most likely exceed their learning goals. This year marks Ms. Werner’s 25th year as a teacher at St. Catherine School. She fully embraces and models the school’s philosophy of “preparing and graduating students who show competence, conscience, and compassion, as children of God by using their minds well, by acting justly, and by serving the needs of others.” She, too, will be traveling to New Orleans to receive the award with the other 11 selected teachers from around the country. We congratulate, Deb, and we thank her for commitment to Catholic education.

    Many blessings,

    Most Reverend Joseph J. Tyson
    Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar General
    Superintendent of Catholic Schools
