As you may know, it is a very high priority for the Legislature and the State Board of Education to increase opportunities for dual crediting (where students earn high school and college credits at the same time). This can help reduce the cost of sending their kids to college for many families.
We’re accepting new schools and teachers for UW in the High School through May 1. As you know, the UWHS program enables high schools to offer UW courses, taught by the high school teacher, and the students can earn UW credit. We offer courses in UW German, French, Spanish, and Japanese, at both the 100- and 200-level. This year, 25 high schools are offering one or more of the UW World Language courses.
Interested teachers should contact me, talk with their fellow teachers and school administration, and review the program website.
