The Confucius Institute of the State of Washington helps coordinate the Chinese Bridge Delegation for Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters. This is an amazing opportunity for state and school district administrators and policy makers, especially school board members, to travel for about ten days to China to learn more about China’s education system and how to connect schools in China and the U.S.
OSPI’s Deputy Superintendent for K-12 Education, Dr. Alan Burke, participated in the Confucius Institute-sponsored trip to China in December 2010. Education Advisory Board member, Rongfen Sun Burford, represented the Confucius Institute in June 2010. Just announced: The “Chinese Bridge–American School Principals Visit to China” will be held June 19 to June 26, 2011. Our Confucius Institute must submit the number of spots that we expect to fill on this delegation to Hanban by April 10. Although we have not yet received the applications or detailed information about the June program, usually Hanban covers all travel costs within China and participants pay for their international travel to China.
If you are a school principal, superintendent, administrator, or school board member from Washington State who would be interested in participating in this program, please contact the Confucius Institute Director, DengBo, dengb@u.washington.edu as soon as possible.
There will also be another Chinese Bridge Delegation organized by the College Board November 3-11, 2011. The deadline for registering is June 3. For more information and application forms, visit http://professionals.collegeboard.com/k-12/awards/chinese/bridge.
