• WAFLT Fall Conference call for proposals through June 30, 2011

If you are not already a member of our professional organization, the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT), I encourage you to consider joining. And take advantage of this opportunity to expand your horizons by submitting a presentation proposal. In my experience, conference attendees love to hear from other world language teachers about their personal experiences in the classrooms. (You don’t have to be an expert – just someone willing to share what you’ve learned.) Here’s a link to the Proposal form:

WAFLT's Fall Conference 2011 will be held in Pasco at the Red Lion Hotel October 14-15. As usual, we will kick off the conference with a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening, Oct. 13. The theme of the conference is "Celebrating the Diversity and Heritage of our Learners". Individual sessions will run Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 8am-12:30pm. Please use this form to submit a proposal for a 50-minute session. The deadline is June 30, 2011.
Friday's keynote speaker will be Kim Potowski, Associate Professor of Spanish linguistics in the Department of Hispanic & Italian Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her latest book is Language Diversity in the USA. For more information on Kim and the projects and research she is involved in, visit her website.
