Re: Teacher Excellence Day, September 16
    Meany Hall, University of Washington

To Catholic Schools attending TED at Meany Hall:

Teacher Excellence Day is soon approaching. We are happy school registrations are in; there are over 1,200 educators attending Meany Hall.

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for vendor exhibits, coffee and sign-in. The 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. portion of the day is for all educators. We are happy to be able to bring Father Robert J. Spitzer, S.J. who is currently the President of the Magis Center of Reason and Faith and the Spitzer Center on Catholic Organizations, to provide an inspirational and informative program for all of our schools on “Five Pillars of the Spiritual Life.” The afternoon session, which has been scheduled from 1:30-3:00 p.m., is for School Principals and guests, and it is also presented by Father Spitzer on the topic of “Servant Leadership/The Spirit of Leadership.” The afternoon session will be at Kane Hall, Room 110, and lunch will be provided. If you have registered for the afternoon session, we look forward to seeing you; if for some reason you are not able to be there, you are welcome to send a replacement or you will be billed for lunch.

Meany Hall is located on the University of Washington Campus, near the intersection of 15th Ave NE and NE 40th St. for driving directions, please click on the following web link: http://www.meany.org/ . If you plan to drive to Meany Hall, please note the fee per car to park at the University of Washington is $15.00 per vehicle; carpooling is encouraged. If you plan on using school buses, parking is free and we will direct you to a parking location. For public transportation options you may visit the following website: http://metro.kingcounty.gov/

If you and your staff plan on parking at the University of Washington, you will need to purchase parking permits from the Catholic Schools Department. The permit order deadline is Wednesday, August 17. There is a limited number of parking spaces the UW can provide in each of the parking lots for this event. Anyone without a parking permit on September 16 is responsible for their own parking. Parking permit orders will be processed on a first come-first served basis. Parking assignments will be given in the following parking lots:
    • Underground Central Plaza Garage at Meany Hall
    • Padelford Parking Garage
For your convenience, we have researched alternative parking in the U-District:

We can pre-purchase parking spaces at $6.00 per car, all-day parking, in the following locations:

    4519 Brooklyn Ave NE
    4526 Brooklyn Ave NE
    University District Parking Association

We are not able to pre-purchase parking permits at this parking garage:
-George F. Russell Jr Building Parking (NE 42nd Street and 15th Avenue NE)
    $10.00 before 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Opens at 7:00 a.m.
    Standard Parking (206) 624-7040

If you have a staff member for whom the walk from Padelford parking lot on campus or from any other parking lot located outside of campus to Meany Hall would be a challenge, please advice us and we will try to accommodate them with a parking space in the Underground Central Plaza Garage at Meany Hall.

Please notify Lisa O’Leary at elizabeth.oleary@seattlearch.org by Wednesday, August 17, how many cars from your school will be driving to Meany Hall, or if you prefer to park at one of the University District Parking Association lots on Brooklyn Ave NE, or if you will be using school buses, or public transportation. Only one order for permits should come from each school. Parking permits will be mailed by September 5. Schools will be billed $15.00 each for the number of parking permits ordered to park on campus or $6.00 each for the number of parking permits ordered to park in any of the two lots located on Brooklyn Ave.
