Dear Friends:
By now you know that we have a new Archbishop-elect, Peter Sartain. Bishop Eusebio and I had the chance to dine with him last night when he arrived here in Seattle. He’d only visited Seattle once before, having gone salmon fishing with his priest friends some years ago. He’s extremely thoughtful, asks insightful questions, and listens well. From my conversation with him last night, I can already see he will build on Archbishop Brunett’s strong educational foundation.
In light of tomorrow’s presentation by Father Ron Nuzzi, you might be interested to know that Archbishop-elect Sartain has had Notre Dame’s “Ace Foundation” working in his current diocese of Joliet. I am providing you with a link that I found helpful about Bishop Sartain (
http://whispersintheloggia.blogspot....et-bishop.html). Keep checking our website for updates and information.
You are also invited to today’s mass at 11:00 a.m. here at St. James Cathedral. It will be a mass in thanksgiving for our Holy Father’s appointment of Archbishop-elect, Peter Sartain.
Whether you are able to join us today or not, I know I can rely on you in joining me in prayer both for Archbishop Brunett for his years of service, as well as our Archbishop-elect, Peter Sartain, as he contemplates his ministry here in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Joseph J. Tyson
Auxiliary Bishop
Superintendent of Catholic Schools
